Unitas Atlas™

Your single pane of glass view into complex IT environments.

Technology infrastructure is becoming increasingly complex, with a growing number of interconnected systems that must work together. Monitoring and managing the performance and health of these systems has also grown in complexity. Unitas Atlas™ is the software platform we use to support client environments through a single pane of glass view into the infrastructure and applications it supports. In turn, our clients rely on Unitas Atlas™ to provide insights they’ve not had before.

Health & Performance

The entire function of the Unitas Atlas™ platform is to ensure the uptime and performance of applications delivered to users. To accomplish this, the system can monitor underlying infrastructure (whether dedicated hardware, private cloud, or public cloud), middleware, and frontend software applications. Integrations for Application Performance Monitoring (APM) solutions are available to provide sophisticated simulations of users interacting with the application (called “synthetic transactions”), and having the health and performance data for the full stack allows for correlation of user performance with underlying infrastructure.

Infrastructure Monitoring & Management

Unitas Atlas™ is a technology-neutral platform, offering in-depth monitoring and management of complex interconnected systems. By monitoring the complete infrastructure ecosystem from the ground up, we can see problem areas that point solutions might miss… before they become business-impacting.

Recognizing that most environments have extensive existing technologies, integrations are available for standard monitoring protocols as well as vendor-specific APIs. A small sample of some of the technologies supported include:

Public clouds: Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud Platform, IBM Softlayer, Rackspace

Private cloud: VMware, OpenStack

LAN: Routers, switches, firewalls, IDS/IPS

WAN: Point to point, MPLS, SD-WAN

Protocols: BGP, OSPF

Vendors: Arista, Aruba, AVAYA, Checkpoint, Cisco, Extreme, F5, Fortinet, Juniper, Palo Alto, Riverbed

Servers: Dell, HP, Cisco, Supermicro

Storage: NetApp, EMC (Isilon, VMAX, XtremIO, VNX), Dell (Data Domain, Compellent), HP, IBM, Pure Storage

Facilities: APC, Liebert, NetBotz

Apache Tomcat, Ceph, Citrix, Docker, Hadoop, McAfee, Oracle DB, Puppet, Splunk

Operating systems: Windows, Linux, AIX, Solaris

The system currently supports well over 1,000 unique technology platforms covering all major vendors.

Service Assurance

Unitas Atlas™ is designed to ensure ultimate availability and performance of critical business applications for your users. The system offers several features to accomplish this:

  • Predictive and responsive thresholds for key infrastructure and application metrics
  • Event-based ticketing and automated escalation policies
  • Runbook automation include service restoration
  • SLAs tied to business outcomes and application user experience

How It Works

A “collector” is deployed in your environment (either physical or virtual) which monitors key metrics and relays that data to a central analytics engine. Data collected can include:

  • Utilization, performance, time-based trends
  • Events
  • Packet loss, latency, jitter
  • Application transaction timeouts
  • Load times

That data is sent over a secure connection and recorded, analyzed, and reported on. In the event metrics fall outside their expected values, the system takes action in the form of event-based ticketing, escalation, and runbook automation policies.

Unitas Atlas™ is backed by a team of dedicated engineers in our Cloud Management Center, ready to respond to any issue that might arise.
